Specialist Anaesthetist
Dr Bestic is a specialist anaesthetist and the former Deputy Director of Trauma for the busiest trauma hospital in New South Wales. He has a special interest in the anaesthetic management of orthopaedic surgery. Dr Bestic is a retrieval specialist with CareFlight and Defence Force doctor with over twenty years of experience including numerous overseas deployments driving a particular interest in the management of anaesthetic crises.
Dr Bestic undertook his anaesthetic specialist training at Royal North Shore Hospital and is a fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, as well as a member of the Academy of Surgical Educators of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He is a graduate of the University of Sydney, the University of New South Wales, the Australian Defence Force Academy and the Royal Military College, Duntroon.
Dr Bestic is an active researcher and educator including Early Management of Severe Trauma Instructor with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Emergency Management of Anaesthetic Crises Instructor with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. He has published in peer reviewed medical journals on advanced airway management and is a member of the Northern Sydney Anaesthetic Research Institute. He has been invited to speak at conferences in Belgium, France, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
